Headlight Connector Insulators V70-XC70 1998

My new to me '98 V70 XC has intermittent connection problems at the bulb at least on the passenger low beam.

On this lamp that the plastic insulator is damaged, it looks like maybe some is electrical damage, and someone put vinyl electrical tape on it to hold it in place, sort of.

I took the female clip on this "bad" lamp and bent the it into shape for a better grip on the lamp spades. I put just a tiny dab of silicone dielectric grease on the spade. The issue went away for a week or two and then came back once since...

This is not something I want going on, so I'm looking for insight to cure it for good.

The plastic insulator part is $5 and change from FCP or dealer. So $22 investment for the four lamps. Does this plastic insulator help anything? I guess I should say, is arcing a big problem inside that sealed plastic box?

The well-functioning lamps don't have an insulator at all any more.

Any experiences?
