Sorry to rehash this but I have searched for days for the answer. Called dealers and auto stores.

Ok for a 5 speed calling for 1161540-8 fluid folks say Mobil 3309 or Toyota type IV will work.

I picked up a quart of Valvoline MAX Life DEX/MERC when I was at the parts store.
On the back label it lists a a whole bunch of different makes and fluid types ranging from Toyota, Honda,Nissan,BMW,Mercedes,Volvo and Audi.

Next to Toyota it lists Type IV (among other fluid types)
Next to Volvo it lists 1161540 as well as 1161521,97340 and 1273.41

Valvolines website says, "Does MaxLife ATF meet the spec for Volvos with a Geartronic Transmission?"
"Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc ATF will meet Volvo specifications that require the use of TIV or JWS3309 ATF."


So my question is this, can I use this fluid in my 2001 V 70 XC with a AW 55-50??
