Extended Warranty, to buy or not to buy? S80 1999

We have a 99 S80 in the family with about 40K miles. We are trying to decide if we need to purchase the extended warranty or not. Price for the the deluxe Volvo 100K warranty is about $2K. Typically one would say no and just put the money aside for repairs. But in the case of an S80 I am not sure. I imagine that a major transmission or engine problem could be VERY expensive. Whats your opionion? Has anyone seen any very expensive S80 repairs between 50 - 100k mile?
