I'm trying to make some new keys for our church's 1997 Volvo V70. I'm located in Australia.
I have a single silca key which turns in the ignition, but it has no transponder in it presently. If I put it in the ignition it turns and starts but immediately stops. I presume that is because of the immobiliser.
My research on the net leads me to believe that I need to get an ID73 transponder, often called NE66T2, and once I have that, somehow the car needs to be programmed to recognised that transponder. Does that sound right?
Is programming the car to recognise a new key transponder something that can be done via some magic like turning the ignition a number of times, or does it have to be done with software connection to the car?
If software, can it be done with VOL-FCR software and appropriate cable?
Regards
Dave
