Rear Brake wear S40-V40 2000

My 2000 S40 already wore out a set of rear brakes. The car only has 22,000 miles. Most cars that I ever worked with wore out the front brakes first. Anyone else expeience this? No, I don't use the parking brake and the caliper still allows the wheel to spin freely when jacked up. I thought that the life expectancy would be a lot longer.
