Very mild knocking, front suspension V70-XC70 1998

The wifemobile has developed a new noise that I'm at a loss to trace so far. This car as 95k on the clock and recently received Bilstein struts. At this young age (mileage wise), and in dry climate, the spring seats were in excellent shape so I reused them but the top mounts were changed. Now I'm wondering if that was a mistake! Anti-sway bar links were replaced at about 70k miles. I can find absolutely no play in anything including the links, tie rods, etc. I have a very quiet, almost muffled knock, almost high-pitched enough to be a rattle, but not quite. Most evident while cruising around low speed streets, 20mph or less. It is not related to jounce or rebound and will usually NOT happen upon hitting a hard bump. Seems to happen more with just undulations in the road. It can sometimes be coaxed out of hiding when releasing the brake, but not consistently. Right side motor mount was replaced recently as was the lower front at the trans. Engine "steady" mount was replaced with urethane ages ago.

Car runs 16" alloys and has new tires.

Sometimes the sound seems to be coming from the suspension area, but every once in awhile it seems to be further back, almost body-related.

Any suggestions?

DS
