850 Timng Belt Question 850 1997

Received a call from a panic stricken friend of my youngest son. He thinks he may have moved the crank gear with the TB off on his 97 850 and might be 180 degrees off. I think there would be interference preventing the rotation to 180 degrees out, but I'm not 100% certain

Common sense would dictate that if piston #1 is at TDC and all timing marks are lined up, you're safe, BUT I need to be 100% sure that I'm correct before I call.

Are my assumptions correct? Thank you
