This relates to a 2006 XC90 V8 AWD with about 100,000 km. It has a six speed transmission.
For the past couple of months, there is a brief slight noise ("chirp" type noise) that is heard when shifting from P to R, R to P, N to D, D to N, immediately before coming to a stop, immediately upon start up and when the vehicles shifts from 1st to 2nd (and probably when shifting between other gears as well). The noise is only heard when the engine is cold and only for about ten minutes after that. I have had the vehicle looked at twice at the dealer. The first time they said they couldn't hear it. The 2nd time they indicated that it was due to play on the spline between the draft shaft into the front wheel so they took it apart and regreased and epoxied the area. However, the noise is still there. Not knowing the details concerning the
The transmission fluid was replaced about 1 year ago by a volvo dealer.
I have read postings about a spline issues for 2006 and earlier models causing the AWD to only operate as a FWD, but my vehicle has not experienced any difficulties in the snow or winter conditions.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks.
