Starts and Dies instantly S40-V40 2000

Hello there ! I have a 2000 s40 which starts and dies first thing in the am. To get thru this, I must feather the pedal for about 2 minutes to keep it running. After 2 minutes of lightly using the pedal to keep it running it behaves perfect all day. The next day I turned the key on w/o cranking or touching the pedal to prime the fuel line. The fuel pump ran 3 seconds. I did this 4 times to give the pump time to reenergize the flow in the line up to the fpr. The 6th time I started the car with no improvement. I still had to feather for 2 minutes to get the show on the road. The next day I hooked up a fuel pressure tester at the fuel rail. 0 lbs after sitting all night. I went thru the same procedure as the day before turning the key on ww/o cranking or touching the pedal. The first time pressure jumped to 25lbs. The 2nd turn of the key w/o cranking kicked the fuel rail pressure to 45lbs. Believing a rail with 45 was high enough I cranked the engine. Same as every other day the car needed to be feathered for 2 minutes to get on with my day. The car ran perfect as before and the guage read 38 lbs. I turned off the car and the rail pressure jumped to 45 and held for 2 hours before I started with my day. This morning it behaved the same. Quick start and died instantly. Instead of feathering it this am , I decided to open the throttle manually under the hood. I folded a platic straw and open the throttle manually and stuck the straw against the adjustment set screw. I had no help I was by myself. I started the car and it started perfectly and there was no need to feather or warm up. I removed the straw and started my day. The fpr has no gas leaking when I pull the vacuum lines. There is no visible air leaks. Why does the car not start on previous days when it has accumulated 45 lbs pf pressure in the rail. Why does the slightest opening of the throttle do the trick for the rest of the day. If the AIAC is responsible for start and idle control why does it perform perfectly only after the magic touch to the throttle plate. Is there some kind of TPS message which is changed by the slightest change to throttle position without touching the pedal itself. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. Bill
