This is my first plunge into a "new" Volvo coming from a '56 444 (present daily driver) a '73 1800ES a '72 1800ES, a 940T wagon and several past 240's (My wife has a V70 that is 100% dealer serviced). This is an 850 wagon with 160K miles. It looks fine and drives ok with some exceptions. I just drove it for the first time (test drives were looking for simpler items) and the first thing I noticed is the intermittent "Buzz" sound from the brakes/ traction control. The sounds are familiar to me like when the V70 slips on an ice patch... but it stops once the grip is established. The brakes operate well but, just driving along, the faint buzz starts and, upon touching the brakes, you can feel the vibration and apply the brakes with proper results. This is on dry pavement and in a straight line. The car has been sitting for 60 days and previous owner tells me he had the brakes recently done by a "friend" and the emergency brake was compromised. Since this is all new to me I am asking for a starting point to examine the problem. Could a inoperative or missing e-Brake cable cause this condition?
Thanks in advance
Christopher
