Instrument Cluster Bulbs 850 1994

Need adult supervision and guidance. Have a 1994 850 with a VDO instrument cluster. The bulb in the Ambient Temperature/Clock module has burned out. A review of Group 38 (page 146)of the Volvo shop manual says to replace the bulbs from the back and do so by lifting dashboard out as per step NA1. Section NA1 (page 212) has you pulling the glove box, the passenger side air bag, speaker grills and speakers, and vent and air ducts. Certainly volvo did not design the unit that this extensive of a ripout is necessary just to change instrument cluster bulbs. Any advise on this one is appreciated. Happy motoring.
