Evaporator had a leak through the duration of the summer, small can of freon every 30 days did the trick. Wouldn't it be my luck that instead of just going about my normal refill routine that the evaporator finally let go. When I say let go I mean pouring rain, can't see, and a ploom of 134a comes pouring full bore out the vents :( -Again pouring rain so in order to vent the toxicity out I had no choice but to keep driving with the windows down.
Not wanting to take on the job myself I will farm this out. I am guessing I will weather (figuratively and literally) out the winter and deal with the ocassional fogging during damp weather and snow. I will reassess the status of the car come Mar/Apr and decide whether I will fork the cash over. Car is running fine but lets be serious, at 220k now, 240k likely come April is it worth sinking the cash into?
If you have had an evap done on a 98-00 70 series do you remember the R&R time the book calls for? My indie is a really honest guy so perhaps I may have it done over the winter and have him replace the heater core while in there....guessing that may give out too and don't want to deal with that during the cold winter.
