My '97 850 has 122K miles. It seems the previous owner hit a huge pothole or ran over something, because there was plenty of right side damage. I have replaced the right axle, the strut mount, and the strut on the right front. My good friend (ASE certified mechanic)swears the spring seat looks great, but I am wondering if that is not the cause of my continued right side front suspension clunking?
I also replaced the sway bar links and we did an overall inspection of the front end. Control arms/ball joints are tight. Everything else looks good. I have ordered a new rear engine torque bushing assembly because the entire engine moves when shifted into reverse or drive.
Am I going to have to pull the strut off once again (did mount first, then strut) and replace the spring seat? Is there anything else you can think of for us to check/replace while I am at it? I am dedicated to eradicating this clunk, even if it kills/bankrupts me.
Thanks!
