WHAT IS IT?

This wagon recently appeared in my neighborhood. The tailgate markings were intriguing. I have never seen a wagon designated C70, and I have certainly never seen "XL" under any designation.

I was introduced to the owner, who knows that VOLVO begins with a "V" and ends with an "O". Beyond that ... nada. He was pleased to learn from me that he owns a turbo.

Not visible in the image are European side lights, but they could be aftermarket from a previous owner.

I considered the possibility that it was a collision rebuild and that some body shop slapped come available numbers on the tailgate, not knowing that the "C" should be a "V".

Anybody care to ID this car?
