Need Advice - Trailer Hitch Installation V70-XC70 2000

Can anyone provide some advice about installing a trailer hitch on a V70 GLT? I'm considering purchasing the class II drawtite hitch from IPD. Some of the questions that I'm thinking I need answers to are:

1) Does the installation of a Drawtite hitch require cutting the bumper cover or any other modifications to the car?

2) Will the hitch, without the shank, stick out far enough for me to hurt my shins when I walk by?

3) Is this a do it yourself project, and if so what tools should I have?

4) I'm planning to trailer my boat, do I need to do any other modifications to my car, transmission cooler, springs, etc.? The boat trailer has a surge brake.

5) The specs say that the trailable load is 3300 lbs, how realistic do you think that is? Too high, Too Low, just right?

6) What other questions should I ask?
