I'm having issues with getting a new key programmed. The car in question is a 1999 S70 T5. But the problem is probably relevant for any Volvo with the chip embedded in the key. I took the car to the dealer today (Bay Ridge Volvo in Brooklyn) to have a new key cut and programmed. The service technician said that the 'computer won't recognize the key" So, they could not program it.
Has anyone encountered this?
Of course, they tried the key AFTER they cut it, so I had to buy the key even though it is effectively useless.
If it is relevant, they also said that they did flash the ECU for a recall-driven change to the throttle body unit.
