Rear speakers don't work 850

Car: 1994 850 turbo with a cassette deck that I still use.

Ok I know so this is minor stuff and I already posted a more important message on bad shifting, but this is really annoying and I couldn't find anything in the database on these problems.

My rear speakers work intermittently. They'll crack alive in and out for about an hour then stop working for a month or so. Just when I think they're totally dead they start churning music for 10 or 15 seconds to let me know they're on life support. Very sporadic.

About 18 months ago I replaced my radio with a used one to get a cassette deck that worked better and the rear speakers worked for about 3 months before doing the same thing as with the previous radio. At least I have a good tape player now.

My antenna needs repaired as it doesn't go up and down properly but it doesn't affect my radio reception so I figured it wouldn't affect the rear speakers either.

Anybody know why the rear speakers work only intermittently?
