First off, thanks to everyone for their expert advice from previous questions and all the answers on the threads. These forums are invaluable to "shade tree" mechanics like myself.
My question this time is: now that the PCV system is replaced on my car, it's time for the driver's side axle. The boot is badly torn and grease long gone. I'll go with a complete replacement axle but wonder which is best. Is the $80.00 axle at FCP Groton any good? Many say EMPI is way to go. Is the repair for the V70XC same as those shown in the online directions from Matthews and VolvoSpeed? They just say FWD V70 and I'm guessing there isn't too much difference. Seems pretty straight forward on these sites. Ball joint seperation seems potential problem. Does the inner axle pop out with a bar as suggested (my car is automatic trans)? The XC has 196,600 miles.
