Suddenly, we have a strong slow (related to tire rotational speed) vibration while under power (any throttle setting from that to maintain constant speed or greater, though the more the throttle, the greater the vibration) if the car is going straight or turning left. All speeds above 15mph.
If the car is turned to the right, the vibration disappears, even under acceleration of any level.
The vibration also disappears if 'off the throttle' regardless of direction (right, center, or left).
The vibration is evident in the steering wheel, and can be felt through the chassis by the passenger as well.
It's bad enough, the first thing I did was check for loose lug bolts. It's as obvious as riding in the rumble-strip at highway edge in both "feel" in the wheel and noise/feel in the chassis. The steering wheel doesn't oscillate as with an out-of-balance wheel, but transmits the vibration.
My first thought is a CV joint, but there's no "clicking" as I've usually heard at steering lock at slow speeds. Someone else said "motor mounts."
It's 105 degrees here right now in TX, so I am waiting for slightly cooler weather to investigate, but meanwhile, if this sounds familiar to anyone, please let me know!
Thanks,
Bob
