850 or 940 for daughter? 850 1997

I am looking at a 1994 940 wagon, cloth, with 73,140 miles from the dealer (SD Volvo) asking $12,995. If I can get it for $11,000 whaddyathink? The dealer has a service history for some major things (70K service, replaced radiator, rear brakes at 73K, front brakes at 58K) but not all oil changes done there, so not sure of frequency. Body is very clean, new looking Maroon. However doors were repainted by dealer to fix many kids scratches. It looks like an excellent paint job, not just a tape and spray.

Alternatively, I can maybe get a 1994 to 1996 850 sedan for probably around $12 to $14K with similar mileage. (I actually just saw a 1997 manual 850 in today's paper for $12K with 75K miles) Which one would cost me less in the long run? BTW, Snow handling isn't a factor in San Diego.

(I also posted this today in RWD and guess what all five votes were for?)
