If there was any doubt...

Volvo has officially abandoned the Volvo driver of yesteryear: Crossover, and out: BMW, Volvo quit wagons

EDIT: Seems access to the above site may be limited. This is a more informative article anyway: Confirmed: Volvo V70 Leaving U.S. This Year, Plus S40, V50, XC70, and S80 Changes

The gist of the story is that the V70 won't be sold in the US anymore and it's likely that the V50 will follow suit. Make way for the crossovers.

It used to be that Volvo was a voice of reason with it's sedans, wagons amongst a bunch of truck/SUV centric lineups. Now it seems they are joining the fray. High strung gas-slurping SUVs, big on the outside and little on the inside.
