Hello All,

I have a 1996 850 GLT wagon which I purchased new that has over 285,000 miles on it. Recently, when I put the key in door lock of the driver's door, turn the key to open the door, the door button will pop up, but as I turn the key to remove it, it will automatically lock again, as though I had locked the car with the remote. I checked to make sure my hand wasn't brushing against the remote. If the car doesn't re-lock itself initially, if I turn the key to the open position a second time to open all the doors, as I turn the key back to the "neutral" position to remove the key, the car will re-lock itself.

I only have this problem with the driver's door and not the front passenger door.

Do I have worn electrical contacts in the driver's door that are triggering the car's locking system?

By the way, I don't have this re-locking problem if I use the remote. The problem only occurs when I use the key in the driver's door.

I welcome any suggestions as to what may be causing this problem. Thanks!
