Teflon tape taboo? 850 1996

I just replaced the radiator in the 96 855t and have noticed oil and tranny fluid seeping from the threaded part of the cooling line fittings. I tightened them as far as I dared to. Is it a "no-no" to put teflon tape on the fittings? Thanks!
