I have decided to make to jump from my trusty RWD 240 to a more modern FWD. I'm ready for a change. I want a wagon with turbo. After some research I have been looking for either 96 or 97 Volvo 850 turbo (T5) wagon or a V70, T5. I have checked out many but I was always let down by previous owners lack of maintenance.
I am going to pull the trigger on a 1998 Volvo V70 T5 with 57,000 verified miles. 1 owner and dealer maintained. I noticed it received a 20,000 service. What does a 20,000 mile service consist of?
I am going to change the timing belt (OEM blue box) due to age not miles. I won't change the timing belt tensioner because I have read that they are rock solid for at least 150,000 miles.
I am also going to change the serpentine belt. Should I also change the serpentine belt tensioner ??? Is it safe to run a 12 year old serpentine belt tensioner with 57,000 miles.
I will definitely run Mobil-1 10W30. I will also flush the transmission. Should I use Mobil-1 multi-vehicle synthetic ATF or should I use Mobile-1 synthetic 3309 ATF?
Any other tips or advice, feel free to let me know.
Thanks
Joseph
