oil light on and engine squeals a bit S70 2000

Our 2000 S70 with 106 K has an oil light that started out as intermitant and finished off being on full time. We use Mann filters and 10-30 high mileage oil. We are due for a change. Now that the light is on full time we get a squeal of sorts that doesn,t sound so hot. I read where a new filter can stop this problem, but do not know how the light ties in with the problem. Dos this sound right? Thanks in advance for your help.
