Oil Consumption related to flame trap? 850 1994

Just recently cleaned out the throttle body and found that there is no flame trap in the flame trap housing, so I bought the plastic flame trap from the dealer and try to put in back on. Of course the flame trap housing was so brittle that it broke while trying to force the flame trap in there.

So, being the lazy cheap bum that I am, I used some red glue (goopy stuff) and sealed the housing with the flame trap inside. (This stuff is good - hi temp goop that one of my friends used to patch up his leaking muffler without any problems). So now the engine is using more oil than before, not lots, but more. I travel from Fresno to San fran often and the oil level drops by one quarter on the dipstick after these trips (200miles). I'm surprised though cuz I just replaced the camshaft position sensor seal so there shouldn't be anymore leaks in the engine.

Think the flame trap is causing this problem? I love to keep this car for a while but there are too many problems lately. Just replaced the clutch for $600, fixed the oil leak, fixed the a/c and now this...plus the shocks needs to go...anyways thanks for the help
