New noise 850 94

After 215,000 miles, my 850 has developed a mysterious new noise.

When the ignition is turned to the accessory position (e.g. so you can play the radio), there is a new noise in the engine compartment, on the right hand side. It sounds like a bad bearing on a small electric motor.

I did not realize any electric motors were supposed to be running before the engine was started. The noise continues when the engine is started.

Should I be concerned? What is going on?
