Considering a 1st Gen Cross Country V70-XC70

I need an AWD car, before the snow gets serious if I can swing it financially. Yes, I DO need AWD, won't take up space with the details here.

My question is how reliable the '98 to '00 Cross Country's are.

We have had a '96 855 turbo since 1997, so I am very familiar with that, and overall its been a great, solid car.

What should I look for?

Should I avoid '98s since they are first year cars?

Any resources will be appreciated.
