Groooaning Wheel Bearing??? 850 1996

My 855 Turbo recently took on a howling persona from the right front wheel bearing by the sound of it. I have consulted my Haynes Manual and the procedure appears to be within my mechanical ability which is usually very high. My questions are: How much time do I have left on the bearing( been about 2,000 miles since I started noticed). How dificult is it to do in real life compared to fantasy book world description, and any helpful tips are greatly appreciated.
