So my brother just swapped out his rotor and cap, as well as doing a spark plug job. My father supervised, so I'm assuming that it was done correctly.
However, I just had to come swap cars with him because it is running very poorly. Here are the symptoms:
Low power - car starts, idles, and drives fine at low RPMs, but there is 0 upper end power. When holding my foot the the floor, the car accelerates (slower than normal) and hits a top speed of about 30mph. With my foot buried into the pedal, the RPMs just hang around 3000-3500RPM but no real power is produced. It just hovers there and the car stays going the same speed.
I checked the ATF and level is fine. He is wondering if maybe he used too much dielectric grease? I've never heard of this and haven't looked into it yet, but is that something to be concerned with? Would that even give the symptoms we are seeing here??
