What on earth is up with my CAR??? 850 1996

Well, allow me to give you all the run-down of my story I have a 1996 Volvo 850 GLE B2525S (10 Valve) and I put a intake system into it by using a rubber pipe and making a hole in it for the MAS and I then pushed the two vacume lines in; all was good for the first little while (runnin like a dream) but, now all of a sudden when I shut my car off it gasps for air almost as if it's stalling it seems that it occures when the car rans hard but I'm not for certain any ideas is it due to the intake or a ign. switch? any ideas would help thanks.
