After owning 240 & 740 wagons, I'm looking for a V70. I've looked at several 2002-2004 models. All are one owner vehicles, with clean Carfaxs and reasonably complete service history records. Mileage ranges from 90K to 106K and all are in my price range. All are front-wheel drive, non-turbos. Before pulling the trigger, I hope to get some feedback from members with experience with this model:
1. There is about a $2,000 price difference between the 2002 and 2004 models. Given that service histories, ownership records, conditions and mileages don't vary by much, is it worth paying up for the 2004? What is the $2,000 buying me?
2. My other bricks all had 100K plus on them when purchased. I immediately changed all the fluids, filters etc. to establish baselines for future maintenance. Went to synthetic motor oil and synthetic tranny fluid. Also replaced all of the suspension bushings and some other bits. Thought I would do the same here. Any thoughts or suggestion in this area?
3. None of theses bricks have a roof rack. I was going to go with an aftermarket rack to carry bikes, etc. Anyone have a recommendation for an after market system?
4. This will be my first front wheel drive brick. Though I don't live in the snow-belt, we do get snow here and I was wondering if snow tires are a must and if so, who makes the best product from a cost/performance viewpoint?
5. I have gotten used to a turbo but haven't been able to find a V70 turbo in my price range. If my search continues and a turbo is available, is there anything to watch out for? Any one model yeqar better than the other?
Thanks for your help.
