Volvo - V40 - 2003 - Stationwagon
Two weeks ago when I went to open my car the alarm went off. Nothing would stop it (turned on car, turned off car, locked and unlocked doors, drove) It cycled in and out approx. 8 times and then stopped. This happened 4/5 more times in the following days. Also while driving the door locks would start opening and closing on their own. The door open warning light stays on, the clock works only if the car is running, the interior light doesn't work, and the a/c fan runs all the time (can't turn it off.) All of this started at the same time.
I checked online and someone said to try opening the door manually with the key. This seems to work on the alarm and locks. The other problems are still there. I went to Volvo dealer and for $125 they "connect to vida and retrieve the following fault codes: vgla-541/ignition switch signal too low and vgla-311/siren faulty signal" and it would take 5+ hours to find the problem and probable cost over $600 to fix. I did check the fuses and they seem good. Anyone have any suggestions how I should handle this. Is Volvo dealer right? Thanks
PS - July 21 used key manually and alarm went off. Went through 10 cycles till it stopped. Used key approx. 4 more times during theat day and it didn’t go off.
