Hey folks,
I was trying to remove my driver's side brake rotor last night to replace the wheel hub/bearing assembly.
The rotor was frozen on there from the rust. Solid. I banged and pounded and pushed and pulled and pried on that thing for 2 hours and got nothing out of it but sore hands.
When I did the other side the rotor was understandably a little rusted together with the hub, but came off with a bit of mild effort. This one just plain seems stuck.
Actually on the other side the hub was stuck inside the steering knuckle something awful and it took a few hours of pounding and prying to get it out, but in that case I had the good fortune of not needing to reuse the part I was abusing, so I resorted to drastic measures like the torch and my cutoff wheel rather quickly. I don't really like the idea of trying to angle grinder/cutoff wheel my brake rotor off the car.
I needed an alignment after putting new tie rods on anyway, so I made an appoint with my indie, but the shops around here seem crazy busy lately and I can never seem to get in to see anyone in a decent amount of time, so the appoint's not till Monday.
Any advice you might have to help me get this off in the meantime would be greatly appreciated.
