Power Steering Pump Grinding? Or is it something else? V70-XC70

My NA v70 has 107k miles.

I am hearing a grinding noise that seems to come from the power steering pump. I put the handle-end of a huge screwdriver to my ear and the blade-end to the pump and the sound seems to come from this component. The PS seems to operate fine and there is no difference in the sound while driving or turning. The sound is not coming from the AC compressor. I verified this with the same method I used above.

I pulled the top timing belt cover off and sprayed some WD40 on the tensioner and the idler and there was no change in the sound. Plus, when I pulled off the cover there was no change in the sound indicating that it was coming from underneath the cover.

Is there an idler associated with the serpentine belt that could be failing? That might explain it because the sound could come from a bearing failing where the sound conducted through the block to the steering pump. The fluid level of the pump is perfect. No leaks.

I can hear the sound off the engine when I drive with the passenger window open as it reflects off the curb. This baby is noisy!
