2001 V40 Transmission Pan Removal S40-V40 2001

A friend ran over a rock in her '01 V40 and put a tiny hole in the transmission pan. I'm going to remove the pan, weld up the hole, and reinstall. Having never pulled one of these, is it a straightforward operation?

I would assume that it's a good time to clean out the filter screen, etc.

Any tips for this job? I've been working on RWD Volvos for years, but this is the first FWD one I've had to do. Thanks.
