Dear Members,
I had my local mechanic replace the timing belt on my wife's '00 S70 AWD.
However when he hooks up his scan tool, the code comes up P0014 and I believe he said the message said the timing was "advanced too much".
From my research on the forum, this engine has a VVT-variable valve timing and you need a "special tool" to lock the sprockets/camshafts so they won't spring back when removing the old belt. It appears this might have happened. The mechanic says his ALLDATA program says the belt/timing is correct, but it keeps giving the P0014 code.
It starts and runs great as is... Does anyone know what procedure he can follow to remedy this problem...or can she just drive it like this with out it bothering? We don't have emission testing in this part of Maine, so they don't test for it during inspections.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
John
