Power Loss update and machine work ?'s 850 1997

Greetings again

Well a serious misfire turned out to be due to a burnt valve. I called a couple of mechanics and machine shops in the area and everyone seems to agree that replacing the valve, having all valves inspected and repaired as necessary and resurfacing is the way to go.

I was quoted $350 to $500 (if all valves need replacement) to do the machine/valve work. That seems lower than all the horror stories I've read, but 3 different shops in the (Seattle) area gave the same figures.

The shop I'm thinking of hiring is called Engine Service, recommended by Daisy Wagen in Seattle. Does anyone on this list have any experience with them?

Any input on all of the above would be very much appreciated.

Norman in Renton, WA.
