850 A/C Pollen Filter

I have an 850 with working AC that blows ice-cold air. We are moving to a dusty place. When in use, I mostly leave recycle on, which presumably keeps outside air from entering the system. Does adding a pollen filter extend the life of the system by keeping small particles out of the evaporator? And would such a thing matter if it were used 90% of the time in recycle mode? Thanks!
