Recently I had my dshboard warning light come on with the following message: "Transmission Service Required" followed with the 'check engine' light.
I took the car to my regular Volvo mechanic who wasn't available (vacation). His assistant hooked the car up to the diagnostic and the following code (and message) was reported:
TCM-012B Neutral control. No neutral control. lblFaultCurrent
The car is a 2001 V70 Cross Country with 122,000 miles on it. Service has been routine with no skipping of regular service. Transmission fluid has been flushed regularly every 30,000 miles. Currently I've had no problem with the transmission shifting although on occasion the car seems to slip out of gear at stop lights but re-engages when I start to accelerate. Other than that I've not noticed anything out of the ordinary.
At this juncture I'm not sure what's going on but, as one might imagine, I'm hoping the code doesn't indicate a replacement of the entire transmission.
Any input or insight would be greatly appreciated.
