I have a transmission problem wondering if the PNP is to blame 850 1995

I have a 1995 850 turbo. I have owned this car for around a year now and it has been amazing to me. I have never experienced a transmission problem with it untill this morning.
I was driving to work and it was driving like it always has then I pull up to a stop light and it will not move, the transmission seemed to be locked in neutral no matter what selection it was in except for park. the trans light is flashing. so i shut it off and turn it back on and it moves but with next to no power i get it to a spot where i can pull it over and check it out.
i am able to move the vehicle if I shut it off and turn it back on but only for a little while then it lets go and is in neutral. I was only 2miles away from home so I shifted it to low which worked longer than drive, and eventually got it home and switched vehicles.
I have just changed the tranny fluid and I just got back from a 550 mile trip and there was no problem at all. Does this sound like a PNP switch problem, i have been doing quite a bit of reading and it sounds like one but I am not sure.

Please let me know, if needed i will supply more information

Thank you in advance,
Chris Mercon
