Turn Signal Woes ('91 240)

Hey, so my usually faithfull Vinnie (as I have affectionately dubbed my brick) recently burned out his Signal Relay. I first noticed it yesterday afternoon when after I turned on my left turning signal, I was assaulted with a loud buzzing noise coming from beneath the paneling next to my right shin and the eventual smell of burning plastic. Once I realized what the problem was, I yanked the fuse for the turn signal relays so I wouldn't totally destroy whatever was burning.

Later that day, I checked the possible causes and found it to be that my turn signal relay (the clicker) had indeed burned out, as indicated by the charred horizontal "ground" prong. I went out and bought a new relay from a European car autoshop, however the new and old relay weren't exactly the same. The first one was a genuine Volvo relay, however the second one I'm not sure what brand it is.

After replacing the old with the new, I put in the fuse I had earlier removed, and after starting up Vinnie and turning on the signal, I was rewarded with the pop of a blown fuse. I went back and checked all the bulbs and fuses, but nothing too serious, but didn't find anything to be wrong. A few burnt out fuses later, I still haven't found the problem.

I'm about to try and check the grounds on it to make sure that there's nothing wrong, but is there anything else I can do short of taking it to my freindly neighborhood Volvo dealer?
