Hello. I have a 1999 Volvo S70 sedan. The volvo dealer said 1999 was a "split year", depending upon the vin and serial number off the timing belt cover, they can tell if i have an older timing belt and tensioner to be replaced at 70,000 miles or the newer version belt and tensioner designed to be replaced at 105,000 miles. Does anyone know anthing about this? also, if you do could you tell me what belt i have if i gave the timing belt cover serial number? I think it has to do with belts that went with hydraulic tensioners, and belts that went with mechanical tensioners. Any info would help. I now have 87,000 miles, and purchased the car used, with little or no service records, but if i can wait until 105K , that would be fine with me.
thanks, kenzoil
