A few months ago I replaced my 89 240 wagon with a 97 850 T5 wagon. I was expecting to get a similar gas mileage with my 850 as I got with my 240, but it's actually a lot less. I used to get about 25 mpg in mixed city/highway driving on my 240, but I get a little under 20 mpg with my 850. Admittedly the 850 is an auto vs. a stick for the 240, but I am still disappointed with the mileage.
I have replaced the plugs, cap and rotor. There are no check engine lights. The engine gets up to temperature quickly and stays there so I think the t-stat is fine (although I will change that soon anyway).
I wondered if my O2 sensor might be going bad, but I think that would trigger a CEL?
Any thoughts on what else I could check?
Thanks
Rod
