Hi -
I just replaced the MAF sensor (also referred to by some as the AMM) on my 2000 2.9 S80. I replaced it because of a surging idle and CEL that was throwing codes p1171 and p1181. The car has about 96K on it.
The replacement seemed to do the trick - no more surging, CEL is off and no more codes. But, I've noticed a couple of things since replacing the part:
1. I'm getting an occasional clunking from the transmission upon acceleration that wasn't there before.
2. The throttle feels smoother and more consistent, but it also seems like the car has lost a bit of power.
My question - the part (bought from a local dealer) came with an orange paper in the box that stated new software must be downloaded with the new MAF (software is part number 9499307). I am going to get this done the next time I visit the dealer, but I was curious if not having the most up to date software might be causing these issues. Note - I have already had the ETM software upgrade performed (part number V030785453-9).
Thanks...
