I have a 98 S70 with 140K miles on it. There is a strange noise that I hear when first start driving once the vehicle has been shifted into drive or reverse. It only happens when you first shift it in gear, not from a stop. It sounds like a tension noise...like a "ting ting ting" then goes away. I can reproduce it when I shift in reverse and give a little gas, or when I shift in drive and give some gas. It doesn't do it if I come to a stoplight and take off from it.

I was thinking maybe something with the strut mounts? any thoughts? I don't have any torn CV boots.
