Recently acquired a 1999 V70. This is our first FWD car, and so far we love it. As we put more miles on it, we are learning its quirks.
We have been noticing some creaking noises from the climate control. The noises occur pretty much constant whether we are driving or standing still. I am sometimes able to make the noises stop if I set the the driver and passenger side temperatures greater than 4 degrees apart. I am guessing it is one of the dampers in the climate control unit that needs replacement or at least lubrication. Has anyone else had this happen before and can offer assistance before I start digging in to the dashboard?
Also, the last couple days we have noticed the AC shutting down after a while. This is particulally annoying given the heat we have been getting lately. If I shut off the AC for a little while, I can restart the AC and it will work for a little while longer. Last night when it was acting up, we were driving throught he city, so the engine was not at high rpm. The AC lights are not flashing indicating there is not a fault code in the ECC controller. Anyone have any suggestions as to what is causing this.
Thanks,
