Last year I posted about the fact that my turn signals and headlights sometimes don't operate unless I turn the key slightly back in the ignition, and someone advised me to replace the electrical part of the ignition switch, I finally got around to ordering that part and going to do this in the morning... ut do I have to disconnect the battery first? Here are the directions (which do not mention the battery)

Also this morning for the first time, the key actually spun all the way around before catching and starting the second time around. Now I am worried that more is wrong with the ignition not just the electrical part - should I order another part? I hope it starts when I leave work today...
