radiator fan stays on after car shuts off - Help

the check engine light showed the code for the ECT sensor. The ect sensor show the engine temp at -40 degrees. I put in a new one sensor and t stat from Volvo and now it shows the temp at 360 degrees. The check engine light popped back on and the fan stays on after turning off car. I replaced the sensor again thinking it was defective and the second one fried. any ideas?
