My beloved 1995 Volvo 850 has been making a grinding noise only when braking.
Inspected the rotors with flashlight - the right front rotor show clear signs of being ground ( thus my grinding noise).
I am a fair backyard mechanic , the original owner of this 850, and have changed the brakes since new. The rotor and the pads are good. The brake fluid is flushed every 2 years.
I deduce two possibilities going on here:
1) The caliper piston is sticking ( but the car does not pull at all when braking)
2) The oiginal brake hose has collapsed internally - resulting in the hydrolic brake fluid not being released back into the master cylinder reservoir after releasing the brake pedal. Seems plausible -
Thoughts anyone ? Caliper ? Collapsed brake line? Other?
